The mushroom guide

A little closer to nature.

Clear answers to help you understand the range, compare extracts and choose your format.

Choose a mushroom, then a format

Our collection is organised around the mushroom, not a long list of similar-looking products. Explore Lion’s Mane, Reishi, Maitake, Shiitake or Tremella, then choose capsules or powder.

Each product page brings together the price, ingredients, directions and available quality information. Different mushrooms and extracts are not automatically interchangeable.

Capsules or powder?

Capsules are a convenient, ready-portioned format. Check the label for the number of capsules in a serving and the complete ingredient list, including the capsule shell.

Powder gives you another way to use an extract. Follow the directions for that particular product and measure the stated serving accurately.

Compare the amount of extract per serving, rather than assuming a capsule and a scoop contain the same amount.

Understanding mushroom extracts

An extract is made by processing mushroom material to obtain selected components. Extracts can differ in their starting material, extraction method and finished composition.

A headline extraction ratio does not tell you everything about a product. Read the ingredient list, serving information and any available specification together.

What should I look for on a label?

Look for the mushroom identity, ingredients, serving size, directions, warnings, net quantity and storage instructions. Check whether the product information identifies the material used and the extract specification.

If you are comparing a stated constituent percentage, such as beta-glucans, check what the figure measures and whether supporting documentation is available for that product. A larger number alone is not a promise of a health benefit.

What does British-made mean here?

Our mushroom extracts are sourced internationally. Our capsules are made and finished in Britain. British-made capsules do not mean that all of the mushrooms were grown in Britain.

Check the individual product information or contact us for further sourcing details.

Understanding quality documentation

A product specification describes the material. A certificate of analysis records the test results reported for a sample or batch. Check that the document relates to the product or batch you are asking about.

Documentation is not a promise that a product will treat a medical condition. Contact us with the product name and batch number to ask what information is available.

Using supplements thoughtfully

Follow the directions on the label of your chosen product. Do not exceed the recommended daily intake. Supplements should not replace a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Keep products out of reach of children. Seek advice from a suitable healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication or have a medical condition.
